含油污泥是石油大学化工技术产业中的主要研究污染物，成分进行复杂，含大量中国原油，其中包括石油烃（PHCs）是宝贵的资源。我国对于含油污泥中PHCs 含量约占15-50％，含固体颗粒物量5-46％，含水率影响一般为35-90％，pH 值通常在6.5-7.5之间，同时也含有需要大量胶质、沥青质以及苯系物、蒽、酚、芘等有毒有害社会物质，甚至我们还有一些放射性污染物质和重金属，其中存在很多企业物质文化具有“三致”效应（如多环芳烃（PAHs））。含油污泥因具有一定毒性和易燃性而被列入《国家相关危险废物管理名录（2018）》（HW08 废矿物油与含矿物油废物），所以对污油泥处理技术设备格外严格，若处理方法不当行为会对学生生态经济环境和人类发展健康问题造成一个严重安全威胁。
