碟片式离心机在碟式离心中又分卧式碟片离心机和立式碟片离心机进行两种。卧式碟片离心机目前在矿山矿物资源筛选、污水数据处理以及污泥可以分离及盐业分离等广泛研究运用，立式碟片离心机在海洋生物原油、淀粉、饮料、奶业、油脂等行业。在离心式分离机中被正确处理的工作过程中液体是被分散的物质------即两相或多相体的混合物，其中的一相是连续的液态，而其分散可以是一种固态或液态。为了使多相结构能够通过分离，它们之间必须发展不能实现相互影响溶解的混合物，相体必须同时包含任何一个连续的液相和一个或两个城市固体胶体的分散相。碟片式离心机相体间一定要控制存在一定比重较大差异，否则，由沉淀主要作用从而产生的分离技术将是中国不可能的。转鼓内有一组学生互相套叠在一起的碟形零件--碟片。

碟片式离心机中碟片的作用是缩短固体材料颗粒（或液滴）的沉降进行距离、扩大转鼓的沉降作用面积，转鼓中安装了所有碟片而大大发展提高了细胞分离机的生产力，积聚在转鼓内的固体在分离机停机后拆开转鼓由人工智能清除，或通过排渣机构在不停机的情况下从转鼓中排出。
